French Model 1873 Revolver 11mm Modified for 45 ACP #F46944
This is a French Model 1873 revolver manufactured by St. Etienne. Originally chambered in 11mm French Ordnance, this revolver was modified to accept 45 ACP or 455 Webley cartridges. While possible, using standard smokeless powder is generally considered unsafe. This conversion requires low-pressure loads (e.g., black powder or light handloads) to avoid damaging the antique frame.
This classic military sidearm is known for rugged performance and features solid steel construction with a loading gate and manual extraction. This particular piece shows wear consistent with age, but retains functional integrity. Bore is very good, with slight roughness throughout. Appears to be all matching. A well-preserved example of 19th-century military firearms, ideal for collectors of European revolvers. No import marks.
We have inspected this pistol and it functions correctly. Because this is an antique firearm it should be inspected by a qualified gunsmith prior to firing and should not be fired with standard smokeless powder in either 45 ACP or 455 Webley.
