Exceptionally rare International Harvester M1D Garand sniper rifle in excellent condition. It is estimated that only 50 International Harvesters were converted into the M1D variation according to the CMP. Included documentation proving authenticity includes: 1) a copy of the original bill of sale from US Army Armament, Munitions and Chemical Command, Rock Island, IL. 2) Letter from CMP showing original DCM sale and DCM weapon sales record.
The rifle includes a correct M84 scope mounted on the M1D-specific offset mount with leather cheek pad and military canvas sling. Scope is clear with no flecking. Bore is excellent and the throat measures under a 3 using a CMP gauge. This rare sniper configuration was designed for U.S. military service in the post-WWII era and into Korea. A highly collectible and historically significant rifle in excellent condition. No import marks.
